Yoann Feillet

Hi, I’m Yoann, a French-Breton-Kiwi award winning photographer based in beautiful Dunedin, New-Zealand. I started photography when I was a teenager. Some years ago then! Photographing was a passion but somehow, life leads me to different paths, sometimes away from my passion of taking photographs.

In 2002 I left France to New Zealand. There I met my future wife and together, we set up a successful Inbound Travel Company, Antipodes Travel. I then became a tour guide and lead French speaking groups in every corners of this country for the last 15 years. I’m always carrying a camera but I sometimes come back home frustrated because I didn’t spend enough time shooting a wonderful landscape or getting the portrait of a peaceful sea lion!

Our modern life forces us running and rushing to a point that we sometimes forget to slow down and observe. 30 years or so after I fell in love with photography, I thought “all right buddy, now it’s time to share your passion. Take the time to enjoy those moments, to observe, to compose, to check the light and then gently press the shutter release to freeze those wonderful instants for ever”. I set up this website to show my art work. Thank you for stopping by, please take your time to browse and enjoy.

I'm a regional member of NZIPP (the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) and a member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand, Forest & Bird, NZ Sea Lion Trust.

I’m also a camera assistant and worked on different projects in New Zealand: underground camera assistant for Modern Dinosaurs (Discovery UK), filming blue penguins for Love Nature Channel, filming bats and keas for the BBC in 2021, and various corporate videos.
